This incredible line up of professional hockey veterans and coaches have some inspiring stories and testimonies to share. Hear how they came to faith in Christ, how they live it out with their teams, and how you can apply it to your day to day living.

Bobby Robins – Discipleship

Bobby Robins is the Director of Pro and College Ministry with FCA Hockey in Alexandria, MN. In 2014 he became the oldest rookie to ever make an NHL Opening Day Roster with the Boston Bruins after 8 seasons in the Minor Leagues and Europe. Robins, the former Captain of the Division 1 University of Massachusetts-Lowell Riverhawks, graduated in 2006 with a Degree in English Writing. He is married to his wife Samantha, and they have a 6 year old daughter.

John Olver (JO) – NorthStar Knights Prep Team Head Coach

Coach Olver joins NorthStar Christian Academy with 38+ years of professional, college, and junior coaching experience. After playing college hockey at the University of Michigan, JO started his coaching career in 1981, and has spent time behind the bench and as a general manager in the AHL, ECHL, WCHL, NCAA Div 1, BCHL, and WSHL. JO looks at his coaching career in three stages: 16 years without any presence of God, 15 years as a curious Christian, and the past 7 years as a committed follower. JO’s passion is to help his players to become the best versions of themselves, and he believes that can ONLY be accomplished by having a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Joshua Freitas – U16 Assistant Coach & Strength and Conditioning Coach

Josh grew up in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, played high school hockey at a New England Boarding school and eventually made his way to Minnesota where he played college hockey at Bethel University (NCAA DIII) and graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science. After Bethel he served as a Youth pastor at Westside Movement church and was and Assistant Coach at Bethel University with the Men’s Ice Hockey team and ran the Strength & Conditioning for both Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey.

Rylan Galiardi – Associate Hockey Director, Associate Head Coach U18

Rylan comes to NCA after a four year stint with Sioux Falls in the USHL where in 2019 they won a Clark Cup Championship. A 2010 graduate of Minnesota State – Mankato, he was captain his senior year and named MSU Athlete of the Year. He spent time playing in the AHL, ECHL, and the EIHL in Great Britain, winning an ECHL Kelly Cup in his rookie year. He got his coaching career started with the Southern Tier Xpress in the NA3HL in 2014, and then coached one year with the Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U AAA team. Rylan plans to invest in every individual by loving, caring and serving them with enthusiasm, in helping prepare them to become better men of character and integrity in the next stage of their lives.

Tim Jackman – U16 Head Coach

Tim Jackman is a 9 year NHL veteran and Head Coach for the Northstar Christian Academy U16 Knights Hockey team. Tim grew up in North Dakota, played for hockey at the University of Minnesota Mankato, and then turned pro shortly thereafter. Tim played for multiple teams over his career, including most notably the Calgary Flames and Anaheim Ducks. Tim loves the Lord and is passionate about encouraging others in their walk with God. He has a wonderful wife, Chelsey, and three children.

  • You can purchase tickets in advance at https://oct20fw.eventbrite.com
  • Guests will be greeted as they come in and asked a series of questions about COVID symptoms
  • Tables will be positioned 6 feet or more apart
  • We will seat 4 people per table
  • Broadway Ballroom staff will be wearing masks
  • Lunch will be plated and served
  • Attendees are encouraged to wear masks when not eating or drinking
  • Any high-risk individuals are encouraged to stay home, we will make a recording available online
